Think pink micro gingham zippered pouch! ππ
Completed June 2026
This pink micro gingham crochet zippered pouch features a classic checkered pattern. It is the perfect size for carrying everyday essentials.
This is easily one of my favorite bags Iβve ever made. In my previous gingham pouches, I always followed traditional pattern instructions meant for larger items, which resulted in larger check blocks. But as I started this project, a thought hit me: since this is a smaller pouch, why not just reduce the stitch count to scale down the gingham check?
To get that true micro-check look, I worked the linked double crochet stitches in blocks just 3 stitches wide by 1 row deep. While the linked DC itself is straightforward, managing tension and switching colors so frequently to create the gingham pattern definitely takes concentration! However, the linked DC is fantastic for this because it creates a solid, gap-free texture that keeps the micro checks crisp.
Crocheting the exterior directly onto a premade canvas zippered pouch solved two huge problems at once. The canvas provided instant structure without stretch, and because it acts as a permanent lining, I didn't have to carry the unused yarn inside the stitches! Letting the yarn float freely along the back side saved immense effort, and all those interior floats stay completely hidden inside.
It holds my phone, small wallet, keys, tissues, and lipstick perfectly, and the 16-inch leather strap sits right under my arm.
